⚽️⚽️⚽️ Loreto CS 3 - 2 Loreto Letterkenny ⚽️⚽️⚽️
On Thursday the 9th of March The first year Loreto Milford girls' soccer team put up a tough battle against Loreto Letterkenny. The first half got underway Loreto Letterkenny proved they were a strong side and got things started with an early goal. Loreto Milford was defending well but Loreto Letterkenny managed to get past and score a second goal. Loreto Milford got some goal-scoring chances late in the first half which lifted spirits.
However, something needed to change. The girls were coached by Ms Dullaghan and she made a few changes and changed the formation and this really made a difference.
The second half started and Loreto Milford did not want to lose they still had more to give. Loreto Letterkenny had kept trying but Cayla McFadden who moved to the goalkeeper in the second half saved everything that came her way. In the last 10 to 15 minutes to get their comeback started with a shot from Chloe Murray which rebounded back out off the goalkeeper and Cate Cameron was there to finish it. Cayla McFadden made an excellent kick deep into Loreto Letterkenny’s half which led to a corner kick, Cate Cameron swung the ball into the box and Erin Nelis was there to finish at into the back of the net. Loreto Milford was given a free kick in a dangerous area, and Cayla McFadden came out of the nets to take the free kick the wind wasn't on our side and carried the ball away from the goal. Loreto Milford where missing their usual goalkeeper and Loreto Letterkenny kept coming but couldn't score. With only a few minutes left the Loreto Milford girls were getting nervous. Loreto Milford had a throw-in deep in Loreto Letterkenny’s half. Cate took the throw-in and played it to the feet of Una Sweeney, who then played the ball into the box and Erin Nelis struck the ball into the bottom corner in the last minute which then made it to 3 to 2. Loreto Milford won the game the girls couldn't believe it. We wish Loreto Letterkenny all the best in their next game.
