Here in Loreto Community School we are involved in several ongoing partnerships with European schools.

These links enhance our educational experience in many ways. There is a direct benefit for students who are learning a foreign language. History and Geography become more meaningful when you are in contact with someone who lives in the region that you are studying.

Pupils from our partner countries encourage us to be more outward looking - and that applies to teachers also. We learn of new developments in education that are being implemented abroad. We also develop a greater appreciation of our common European heritage.

eTwinning partnerships are projects in which most communication is electronic. Our new Loreto Community School is equipped to the highest standard with the latest in Information and Communication Technology, so we are extremely well placed to take part in eTwinning.

Our etwinning partners:

Gymnasium Ceska Lipa

Located in the town of Ceska Lipa in the Czech Republic.

Pupils have exchanged email, videos, mp3 files so far this year. An interesting task involved students from each school creating a PowerPoint presentation on their partner, which required them to send sets of questions to each other, as well as searching the Web for information.

IES Otura

Located near Granada, in Southern Spain

This project is being undertaken by several first and second year students who do Spanish

Our Comenius Partners:

Hauptschule Schillerplatz

Furstenfeld, Austria

Kirkhaugen Skole

Bodo, Norway

This is the final year of a three year partnership which so far has involved teacher visits to Norway and Austria.

Pupils have undertaken project work on Myths and Legends which each partner has shared with the other.

A student exchange with Austria will take place shortly after Easter.
